The severe tropical storm monitored within the monitoring domain (TCID) has intensified into a typhoon, the PAGASA said.
As of 8:00 AM on Saturday, April 11, the state weather bureau said that “Sinlaku” was located at 2,770 km east of Northeastern Mindanao. It has maximum sustained winds of 130 km/h and gustiness up to 160 km/h.
It is currently moving northeastward at 10 km/h.
According to the forecast issued at 5:00 AM, “Sinlaku” had almost stationary movement at 2:00 AM.
However, the weather specialist said it may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) next week. There is also a possibility that the severe tropical storm will move northward, ruling out entry into PAR.
If “Sinlaku” enters PAR, the PAGASA said it will be given the local name “Caloy.”
