Several yachts allegedly linked to resigned Congressman Zaldy Co have been discovered by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) as authorities widen their probe into the alleged flood control anomaly, as reported by RH Jecelle Ricafort.
In a report to DZRH News, ICI Technical Working Group chairman Assistant Secretary Aboy Paraiso said the commission also examined maritime assets connected to Co, aside from previously identified air assets.
Paraiso identified Misibis Bay Corporation as among the entities under scrutiny. Co has been cited as one of the acknowledged owners of the corporation, which owns the luxury Misibis Bay Resort, Estates and Spa in Bacacay, Albay.
According to Paraiso, the ICI is currently investigating more than 140 individuals and around 300 corporations in connection with the alleged anomaly involving flood control projects.
He added that the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) is preparing a new freeze order, although it remains unclear which individuals or companies will be covered.
Paraiso stressed that authorities are still verifying the actual ownership of the corporations being linked to the controversy, noting that freeze orders will only be sought once ownership is firmly established.
DZRH has sought a statement from Co’s lawyer, Atty. Ruy Rondain, but he has yet to respond as of this writing.
Rondain had earlier denied that his client owns any air assets, saying the aircraft were owned by Misibis Bay Corporation, which he claimed is separate from the former lawmaker.
Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said two AgustaWestland helicopters linked to Co remain in Malaysia, while a Gulfstream aircraft is still in Singapore.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier disclosed that air assets worth around P4 billion allegedly linked to the former congressman had already been frozen by the government.
