

Several roads in Manila will be closed starting 12:01 a.m. on Sept. 21, 2026, as authorities implement traffic measures for the commemoration of the 54th anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law.
The Manila Police District issued a traffic advisory informing motorists of road closures and alternate routes in areas around Mendiola, Liwasang Bonifacio and Ayala Bridge.
The following roads will be closed:

C.M. Recto Avenue — from N. Reyes Street to Mendiola

Legarda Street — from Figueras Street to San Rafael Street

Magallanes Drive — from Jones Bridge to McArthur Bridge

Ayala Bridge

Eastbound lane of Ayala Boulevard — from San Marcelino Street to Romualdez Street
For motorists heading to Mendiola, vehicles coming from Quezon Boulevard and C.M. Recto Avenue will be rerouted through N. Reyes Street.
Those coming from the Sta. Mesa area via Legarda Street and heading toward C.M. Recto Avenue will be redirected through Figueras Street and Earnshaw Street.
Vehicles coming from P. Casal Street and heading toward Mendiola will be rerouted through San Rafael Street, Bilibid Viejo Street and Quezon Boulevard.
For the Liwasang Bonifacio area, vehicles coming from P. Burgos Avenue and heading toward Magallanes Drive will instead proceed straight to Jones Bridge. Vehicles coming from McArthur Bridge will be directed to the southbound lane of P. Burgos Avenue.
Motorists affected by the Ayala Bridge closure will also be redirected to nearby roads, including Ayala Boulevard, Taft Avenue, San Marcelino Street, UN Avenue, P. Casal Street and C. Palanca Street, depending on their point of origin and destination.
Authorities advised motorists to follow the designated rerouting schemes and plan their trips ahead of time to avoid delays.
