The Senate on Tuesday, May 26, continued updating the leadership and membership of several standing committees as part of its ongoing reorganization following recent internal adjustments. However, officials noted that the committee roster is still not final, with several key panels yet to elect their chairpersons and complete their full membership.

Several chairpersons had already been elected earlier, while the chamber confirmed vice chairpersons and additional members across major panels covering education, public order, and cultural affairs.

Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa was earlier elected as chairman of the Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs, which oversees legislation on law enforcement, illegal drugs, and national security concerns. Supporting him in the panel are vice chairpersons Senator Bong Go, Senator Jinggoy Estrada, and Senator Rodante Marcoleta, with members Senator Robin Padilla and Senator Imee Marcos.

In the education sector, Senator Loren Legarda was earlier designated as chair of the Committee on Basic Education, while Senator Joel Villanueva was also earlier elected to lead the Committee on Higher, Technical, and Vocational Education.

Under the finalized lineup for the Committee on Basic Education, Vice Chairperson Senator Robin Padilla was appointed alongside members Senator Bong Go, Senator Jinggoy Estrada, Senator Pia Cayetano, Senator Mark Villar, Senator Imee Marcos, Senator Joel Villanueva, and Senator Rodante Marcoleta.

For the Committee on Culture and the Arts, which is also chaired by Senator Loren Legarda, members include Senator Robin Padilla, Senator Pia Cayetano, Senator Joel Villanueva, Senator Rodante Marcoleta, and Senator Imee Marcos.

Meanwhile, the Committee on Higher, Technical, and Vocational Education, led by Senator Joel Villanueva, includes Vice Chairperson Senator Loren Legarda, with Senator Pia Cayetano, Senator Bong Go, Senator Robin Padilla, and Senator Mark Villar as members.

Despite these developments, several key committees still need to elect chairpersons and complete their membership composition, including the Committee on Agriculture, among others, as the Senate continues its internal reorganization.

The chamber is expected to continue filling remaining leadership posts in the coming days as it prepares for full legislative work under the new committee structure.
