Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian said on Sunday that the Senate will resume work on Monday, August 10, following the suspension of operations last Thursday due to heavy rainfall brought by Tropical Storm Maymay and the southwest monsoon or habagat.
On a post on X on Sunday, August 9, Gatchalian said Senate will hold its impeachment hearing at 10 a.m., followed by a plenary session at 4 p.m.
"To those asking: Just to inform everyone that the Senate has work tomorrow - 10am impeachment and 4pm session," Gatchalian said.
Meanwhile, former Commission on Audit (COA) auditor Aileen Del Campo is expected to take the witness stand during Monday's impeachment proceedings.
Del Campo is expected to discuss the additional Audit Observation Memoranda (AOMs) she prepared, as well as the subsequent COA processes that led to the issuance of Notices of Suspension and Notices of Disallowance.
She replaced former State Auditor Roderick Wamil, who was reassigned to another unit and is no longer involved in the audit of the confidential funds.
The impeachment trial is expected to continue its examination of the alleged misuse of confidential funds involving Vice President Sara Duterte.
