The Senate Impeachment Court has finalized the schedule for the continuation of Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial, with full-day hearings set throughout much of October before proceedings temporarily give way to deliberations on the proposed 2027 national budget.
As confirmed by Senator Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri, the schedule was finalized and agreed upon during a Senate caucus.
The impeachment trial will be conducted from 10 a.m. until the early evening on the following dates:
- October 1 and 2
- October 5 to 9
- October 12 to 15
There will be no impeachment trial hearings from October 16 to November 8, as senators will focus on deliberations for the proposed 2027 national budget.
Proceedings will resume on November 9 and 16, although these hearings will follow a shorter schedule from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Senate is set to return to its normal programming on November 23, also from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The finalized calendar follows the impeachment court’s earlier announcement that proceedings could shift to full-day hearings in October to accommodate the Senate’s budget deliberations. Presiding Officer Sen. Chiz Escudero had previously said the proposed arrangement would allow the impeachment trial to continue while senators attend to their legislative duties on the national budget.
The extended October schedule is expected to allow the impeachment court to maximize the hearing days before the temporary break for budget deliberations.
The trial is currently focused on the impeachment allegations against Duterte, with the Senate sitting as an impeachment court to hear the case and determine its outcome.
