Support for the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee’s partial report on alleged anomalies in flood control projects is nearing the required number of signatures for plenary submission, according to Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson.
Lacson, who also chairs the committee, said additional senators have signed the report, bringing the total closer to the threshold needed for endorsement to the Senate plenary.
The latest signatories include Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III and Senator Erwin Tulfo, joining earlier signatories Senators Bam Aquino, Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Risa Hontiveros, and Lacson himself.
Lacson said two more committee members have reportedly expressed willingness to sign, which would bring the total to eight—just one short of the nine signatures required for plenary submission.
Despite the growing support, Lacson stressed that he will not pressure his colleagues to sign, saying he respects their individual decisions. The Senate Minority Bloc has already said it will not sign the report, opting instead to file a separate minority report.
The partial committee report covers alleged irregularities in government flood control projects, with several officials previously recommended for further investigation and possible charges.
