Newly appointed Senate Blue Ribbon Committee Chairperson Sen. Erwin Tulfo announced that the committee's hearing on alleged anomalies in flood control projects has been rescheduled to Monday, June 8.

The hearing was earlier set for Thursday, June 4, under the leadership of former committee chairperson Sen. Pia Cayetano. However, Tulfo said the postponement would give senators more time to prepare for the proceedings.

Tulfo, who was elected as the new chairperson of the Blue Ribbon Committee following a fresh reshuffle of Senate committee leadership posts, said all senators from both the majority and minority blocs would be invited to participate in the investigation.

According to the senator, the move is intended to promote transparency and ensure the integrity of the proceedings.

“Para walang masabi na may hocus-pocus na nangyayari,” Tulfo said, emphasizing the need to avoid any perception of irregularities in the conduct of the hearing.

Tulfo also revealed plans to make all senators members of the Blue Ribbon Committee to encourage broader participation in the inquiry.

The changes in committee leadership came after the Senate declared a quorum during its session on Wednesday, paving the way for the reorganization of committee chairmanships.

The Blue Ribbon Committee is set to investigate alleged irregularities involving government flood control projects, a matter that has drawn public attention amid concerns over the use of public funds and the effectiveness of flood mitigation efforts.
