During the session, senators approved Senate Bill No. 1937, which seeks to institutionalize support for public basic education schools in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDA), ensuring better access to quality education for students in remote communities.
Meanwhile, Senate Bill No. 1966, aiming to institutionalize the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) Program, was formally introduced in plenary.
The measure seeks to provide timely financial and social support to individuals and families facing emergencies, disasters, or personal crises.
The chamber also passed on third reading Senate Bill No. 1719, establishing Philippine Veterans’ Month to honor the country’s military veterans, alongside two naturalization measures facilitating citizenship for qualified foreign nationals.
