The Senate on Tuesday adopted a resolution honoring the life and contributions of the late Armscor chief Martin Olondriz Tuason, recognizing his role in advancing the country’s defense industry.

Senate Majority Leader Migz Zubiri moved for the chamber to consider Proposed Resolution No. 385, which pays tribute to Tuason following his death in November 2025 due to a heart attack.

Zubiri, the resolution’s sponsor, emphasized Tuason’s efforts in strengthening the local defense sector and promoting a self-reliant defense posture for the Philippines.

“He believed in homegrown defense equipment for the Philippines,” Zubiri said.

Several senators expressed support for the measure, including Sens. Joel Villanueva, JV Ejercito, Mark Villar and Vicente Sotto III.

Ejercito also moved to be a co-sponsor of the resolution, citing Tuason’s lasting impact on the industry.

“May his life continue to inspire generations of Filipinos to serve our country with the same purpose, excellence, and love of nation,” Ejercito said.

Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian later authorized the resolution as duly amended, formalizing the chamber’s recognition of Tuason’s contributions to national defense.
