Senator Raffy Tulfo criticized what he described as “low-level” and “embarrassing” incidents inside the Senate, alleging that the air conditioning and internet connection were deliberately cut during a plenary session attended by minority lawmakers.

In a media interview, Tulfo expressed frustration over the situation, saying it negatively affected the atmosphere inside the chamber and reflected poorly on the institution.

“Yan yung isa sa mga nakakasakit sa ulo ko. Isa pa, pinatayan kami ng aircon, pinatayan kami ng internet, pati yung aircon sa CR, pinatay na rin. You see? Ganun na ba kababaw? Yung mga nangyari sa Senate,” Tulfo said.

He added that the conditions inside the plenary hall became uncomfortable after a long waiting period, noting that only minority senators were present at the time.

“Sa plenary. Kasi wala namang any member of the majority doon kanina eh. So lahat kami 11, nandun kami sa floor. So nag-antay kami after more than an hour, all of a sudden biglang uminit,” he said.

Tulfo further alleged that the shutdown of utilities appeared intentional, pointing out that both air conditioning and internet services were affected, including areas such as restrooms.

“So talagang sinadya yung ginawa nilang mga move,” he said.

The senator said the incident contributes to what he described as a declining image of the Senate, urging greater professionalism and respect within the chamber amid ongoing internal tensions.
