Senator Jinggoy Estrada has strongly denied allegations linking him to alleged budget insertions in the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 2025 budget, following findings from the Senate’s budget monitoring office stating that no such records exist.
In a statement, Estrada said the accusations surrounding controversial flood control projects are “baseless, reckless, and utterly unsupported by any credible evidence.”
He maintained that he has consistently participated in the Senate inquiry on the matter, expressing confidence that his actions were in line with his constitutional duty as a legislator.
“The official records of the Senate’s Legislative Budget Research and Monitoring Office clearly affirm that no insertions were made on my part in the DPWH 2025 budget. This is on record. This is the truth,” Estrada said, referring to the Legislative Budget Research and Monitoring Office (LBRMO).
The senator explained that his participation in the budget process was limited to reviewing the national budget and proposing amendments he believed were necessary in the interest of the public. He emphasized that such actions are part of his mandate as a member of the Senate.
Estrada also reiterated his commitment to transparency and accountability, saying he remains unshaken in the face of allegations and is prepared to confront and disprove all claims against him.
“I will not allow my name to be tarnished by false, malicious, and defamatory statements,” he added.
The issue stems from earlier claims raised during Senate hearings on alleged irregularities in flood control projects, which have triggered scrutiny over budget allocations and project implementation.
