Senator Erwin Tulfo is facing a Quo Warranto petition before the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) questioning his citizenship.

This was revealed by Atty. Eleanor Francisco-Anunciacion, Deputy Secretary General of the SET, during the budget deliberations of the Senate Finance Committee.

According to Anunciacion, the petition was filed on July 15, 2025, although she did not specify the senator’s name during the hearing. However, Tulfo’s name appeared in the SET’s presentation slides shown to the committee.

The complaint was filed by Berteni “Toto” Cataluna Causing, a lawyer who has been disbarred twice.

As of this writing, Sen. Tulfo has yet to issue a statement regarding the Quo Warranto petition lodged against him.
