Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa said Wednesday that Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano instructed him to board a van bound for the Senate, contradicting his earlier statement in which he declined to identify the lawmaker who assisted his transport.
In a press interview, dela Rosa confirmed that Cayetano was the person he spoke with prior to his arrival at the Senate complex.
“Alan Cayetano ang kausap ko, wala naman ako ibang kausap na Cayetano,” he said when asked to clarify which Cayetano he was referring to.
He said Cayetano told him to ride a van going to the Senate, although he could not confirm who owned the vehicle.
“Hindi ko alam kung van niya ’yon or nirentahan o kaninong van ’yon basta ’yon ang sabi niya sa akin, sumakay ako sa van,” he said.
Earlier the same day, in an interview on DZRH’s “Dos Por Dos,” dela Rosa declined to identify the senator who helped him reach the Senate.
“Hindi ko na sabihin kung kanino baka sabihin niya pinasakay na nga kita tapos…” he said, adding that the mode of transportation was not important as long as he arrived at his destination.
The clarification came hours after his earlier remarks, drawing attention as questions continue over his movements and security arrangements.
Dela Rosa remains under Senate protective custody amid reports of a possible arrest linked to a case before the International Criminal Court. He returned to the chamber after a six-month absence, a move that helped solidify the new Senate leadership lineup.
