A complaint filed against Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa before the Senate Committee on Ethics may be dismissed if he voluntarily stops receiving his salary and allowances, according to Committee Chair Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito.
Ejercito said the possible outcome stems from the nature of the complaint, noting that the committee’s decision will ultimately depend on its members, with him acting only as facilitator of the proceedings.
The ethics case is currently among several pending matters before the committee and is listed as the fifth complaint in its docket, contributing to delays in its resolution.
Ejercito also said he has not had recent communication with Ronald dela Rosa since the senator reportedly stopped attending sessions in November 2025.
He added that a voluntary decision by dela Rosa to forgo compensation and allowances could potentially speed up deliberations on the case, although the committee is not expected to rush its decision due to its existing caseload.
Ejercito emphasized that the process remains subject to the collective judgment of the Senate Committee on Ethics as it continues handling multiple pending complaints.
