Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, speaking during a Facebook Live appearance with Sen. Robin Padilla, criticized recent developments involving an alleged attempt to serve a warrant of arrest against him and raised concerns over political dynamics inside the Senate.
Dela Rosa questioned the authority behind the enforcement effort, stating, “Sino si Trillanes? Hindi siya Interpol, hindi siya ICC, hindi siya PCTC, private individual, pero siya may hawak ng warrant of arrest na gusto i-implementa kasama ang mga NBI.”
He expressed alarm over what he described as an unusual state of governance, adding, “So, ganito na ba ang ating gobyerno, mga kaibigan, mga kababayan? Napakasama po ng nangyari.”
The senator also pointed to his electoral mandate, saying he was voted into office by 20 million Filipinos to work, but claimed he was being prevented from entering the Senate amid leadership struggles.
“Ako’y binoto ng 20 milyong Pilipino para magtrabaho. Ngayon, pinipigilan lang akong pumasok sa Senado dahil ayaw nila na maagaw namin ang liderato ng Senado,” he said.
Dela Rosa further alleged that efforts were made to prevent their bloc from securing a Senate majority, which he said would have implications on governance and corruption issues. “Pinipigilan nila para hindi aabot ng 13 yung boto namin… para tuloy pa rin yung state of affairs ng ating bansa,” he claimed.
Despite the tensions, he said their group managed to secure majority control in the Senate and vowed to pursue their agenda. “Ngayon na kami na ang may hawak ng majority sa Senado… everything will fall into its right places,” he said.
Dela Rosa stressed that their work was not personal but part of their legislative duty, urging public support. “Trabaho lang ito… Sana masuportahan niyo kami dito dahil sobra na ito. Hindi na ito tama,” he added.
The remarks came amid heightened political discussion following reports of Senate-related security and custody arrangements involving the senator.
