Private prosecutor Atty. Erwin Matib questioned Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) lawyer Gerardo Del Rosario on Tuesday over the alleged interest of Vice President Sara Duterte in GenCorp Industries Incorporated during Day 28 of her impeachment trial.
During redirect examination, Matib asked whether the lack of clarity regarding Duterte’s interest in the company was due to the information being confidential.
“Atty. Del Rosario, nabanggit po na hindi malinaw kung anong interest ni VP Sara sa kumpanyang ito. Ito po ba dahil confidential ’yung information?,” Matib asked.
The defense objected to the question, calling it misleading.
Presiding Officer Chiz Escudero then asked Del Rosario if he knew the answer. The SEC witness said Duterte’s name did not appear in GenCorp’s records from its incorporation through the filing of its General Information Sheet (GIS).
“Sa GenCorp Industries Incorporated po, wala po kasing pangalan si VP Sara Duterte from incorporation up to the filing ng GIS. ’Yun po ang nakalagay sa aking summary,” Del Rosario said.
The exchange was part of the Senate impeachment court’s examination of corporate records and Duterte’s alleged business interests in connection with the proceedings.
