Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon ordered the independent vetting and background check of the agency’s appointees.
In a press release on Thursday, October 23, Dizon requested that the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and several private organizations conduct thorough background checks on the DPWH’s newly appointed officials to ensure transparency and integrity. This aligns with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive to push for reforms within the agency.
Based on the letter addressed to the NBI Director Jaime Santiago, Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) Chair Benedicta Baladad, Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) President Alfredo Panlillio, and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) President Consul Enunia Mangio, the DPWH will coordinate with various private sectors to review the background of their agency’s officials.
“Ang paulit-ulit na sinasabi ng Pangulo dapat linisin at hindi depensahan ang DPWH. Kasama ito sa reporma at paglilinis na ginagawa natin na dapat ang mga kasamahan natin ay incorruptible at sincere sa pagseserbisyo sa Pilipino,” Dizon said.
The request aims to conduct a thorough vetting process and background check on the 14 DPWH executives, from undersecretaries to assistant secretaries.
