Search and rescue teams continued Saturday to look for a 17-year-old girl who has been missing in Sagada since August 8, with authorities deploying additional personnel and a trained search-and-rescue dog to help locate her.

The Provincial Government of Mountain Province deployed its response team to Sagada to augment the ongoing search for Sophia M. Oria, a resident of Barangay Demang.

The team was joined by Zuma, a 5-year-old Golden Retriever trained in search and rescue, and his handler, Brett Mitchell. They worked alongside local responders, community members and other concerned agencies in searching identified areas.

Oria was last seen at around 7 p.m. August 8 and was reported missing at about 1 a.m. the following day, according to authorities.

The report prompted local officials, authorities, community members, guides and volunteers to launch a search operation.

"We continue to search. We continue to hope," the Mountain Province Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said in a statement.

The provincial government said search teams remain hopeful that continued efforts will lead to Oria's safe recovery.
