Government contractor Cezarah "Sarah" Discaya on Tuesday surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) office ahead of the issuance of an arrest warrant against her.
RH Jecelle Ricafort reported, Discaya’s spokesperson, Atty. Cornelio Samaniego III confirmed on DZRH News that Sarah's voluntary surrender demonstrates her willingness to cooperate with authorities and her intent not to evade the law.
Samaniego also confirmed that Roma Rimando, associated with Discaya-owned St. Timothy Corporation, surrendered to the Pasig City Police Chief on Monday night. He added that Rimando handed over her passport to show that she has no plans of fleeing.
Discaya is currently at the NBI headquarters to formally turn herself in.
Her surrender comes after President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. said she would be immediately arrested once the warrant of arrest, expected to be issued within the week, is released in connection with alleged anomalies in flood control projects across the country.
This follows the recommendation of the Office of the Ombudsman to file charges of malversation through falsification and graft against Discaya and several officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) over a ₱96.5 million “ghost” or non-existent infrastructure project in Davao Occidental.
