Vice President Sara Duterte’s legal team is still weighing whether she will personally appear before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Thursday, but her camp said it will submit an affidavit addressing what it described as false statements against her.

Atty. Paul Lawrence Lim, Duterte’s legal counsel, told DZRH News that the vice president already has an affidavit that will be submitted to the bureau.

Duterte’s lawyers are expected to appear at the NBI for the fact-finding investigation, Lim said, while the vice president’s personal attendance remains under consideration.

The affidavit identifies 29 statements by Rodulfo Gracioso Jr. that Duterte’s camp considers false, according to Lim.

Duterte has previously denied Gracioso’s allegations and claimed that the dismissed police officer was paid to damage her reputation.

NBI Director Atty. Melvin Matibag had urged Duterte to submit the statements she considers perjurious, saying the bureau was prepared to examine them and compare them with the evidence it has gathered.

In his affidavit, Gracioso accused Duterte of receiving large sums of money totaling more than 2 billion pesos allegedly on the orders of Velasco. He also claimed that 1 billion pesos was delivered to former President Rodrigo Duterte and 100 million pesos to Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte.

Duterte has denied the allegations.
