House Majority Leader Sandro Marcos said that he will inhibit himself from discussions, deliberations, and proceedings once the House of Representatives begins hearing the impeachment complaint filed against his father, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Marcos said he will step aside in his capacity as chairman of the House Committee on Rules to avoid any conflict of interest but clarified that the move will not affect his duties as House Majority Leader.

He stressed his commitment to fulfilling his broader responsibilities in the House to uphold institutional integrity and maintain public trust.

Marcos noted that under the Constitution, the House is mandated to act on impeachment complaints against the President or any impeachable official.

As Majority Leader, he said his role includes referring any impeachment complaint to the House Committee on Justice once it is included in the chamber’s calendar of business and formally read in plenary.

Marcos emphasized that impeachment complaints should be heard regardless of who the respondent is, even if it involves his own father.
