The House of the Representatives' Majority Leader Sandro Marcos expressed his willingness to appear before the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) following allegations by former Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co linking him to allegedly anomalous budget insertions.
RH Jecelle Ricafort reported, the presidential son formally conveyed his readiness through a letter to ICI Chairman Andy Reyes Jr.
“Let me state this clearly and without hesitation: I am willing to appear before the Commission at any time. I welcome the opportunity to shed light on any matter that may assist your review,” Marcos said in the letter.
“I stand ready to cooperate, answer questions, and provide any clarification needed to move this investigation forward,“ he added.
ICI Executive Director Atty. Brian Hosaka confirmed receiving the letter from the lawmaker.
“This morning, nakatanggap kami ng sulat galing kay Congressman Sandro Marcos expressing his willingness to appear before the ICI and share whatever information he has with regard to the ongoing investigation of the commission on the anomalous control projects,“ Hosaka said.
Hosaka said commission is still deciding when Marcos will be called to testify. He also noted that it remains uncertain whether the proceedings will be livestreamed or conducted in an executive session.
The allegations stem from Co, who claimed that Marcos was responsible for P50.9 billion in budget insertions.
Co asserted that P9.636 billion was inserted in 2023, P20.174 billion in 2024, and P21.127 billion in 2025.
Earlier, Marcos dismissed Co’s accusations, alleging that the resigned lawmaker had aligned himself with political groups aiming to undermine the Marcos administration.
Co’s recent videos also implicated First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos in the alleged irregularities in importation.
