House Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos has filed a bill seeking to penalize “road rage” as a criminal offense, according to reports on Monday, March 2.
Under House Bill 8190, also known as the Anti-Road Rage Act, road rage was defined as any intentional, aggressive act committed by a motorist in a traffic-related incident, including intimidation, harassment, and inflicting bodily harm on other road users, as reported on MBC TV Network News.
The prison term and fine depend on whether any individual was injured or killed as a result of the altercation.
“We cannot allow road rages to continue on our roads. One reckless decision can turn into a lifelong tragedy for an innocent family,” Marcos said.
The bill comes after a road rage incident that occurred along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), where Marcos’ younger sibling is said to have been involved.
