The Sandiganbayan Third Division has ordered Senator Rodante Marcoleta to undergo an independent medical examination at the University of the Philippines–Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) amid his continued confinement at the PNP General Hospital.
In a resolution dated July 13, 2026, the anti-graft court directed PNP-CIDG officials and PNP medical personnel to produce and bring Marcoleta to UP-PGH on July 14 for the medical assessment.
The court also ordered UP-PGH Director Dr. Gerardo D. Legaspi, or an authorized representative, to conduct the examination and submit a report and recommendation regarding whether there is an “imperative need” for Marcoleta’s continued confinement.
The Sandiganbayan further directed Dr. Legaspi and concerned physicians to personally appear before the court on July 15 to testify on the circumstances and results of the medical examination.
The order stemmed from the court’s directive to verify Marcoleta’s medical condition following his stay at the PNP General Hospital.
