The Sandiganbayan Third Division has ordered the temporary detention of former Senator Bong Revilla Jr. at the New Quezon City Jail–Male Dormitory in Payatas, pending the resolution of his motion to transfer to the Philippine National Police (PNP) facility.
Revilla is facing graft and non-bailable malversation charges related to the P92.8 million flood control project in Bulacan, which has been linked to alleged anomalies and ghost projects.
Following a voluntary surrender at the PNP–Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Monday, January 19, Revilla arrived at the Sandiganbayan at around 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 20, accompanied by his wife, Congresswoman Lani Mercado, and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Jonvic Remulla, who personally escorted him to the court.
Remulla emphasized that no special treatment will be given to Revilla, despite their lifelong friendship.
The commitment order, approved by the Sandiganbayan Third Division, directs that Revilla be temporarily held at jail in QC, where other accused individuals involved in the disputed flood control projects are also detained.
Cavite Rep. Jolo Revilla, son of the former senator, has issued a statement reacting to his father’s impending detention, emphasizing the family’s intention to pursue legal remedies.
"Syempre nalulungkot kami, kaya lang nirerespeto namin 'yung institutions," he said.
'SYEMPRE NALULUNGKOT KAMI'
