The Sandiganbayan has dismissed the remaining asset claims in the forfeiture case against the Marcos family, ending a legal battle that had been pending for more than 30 years.

In a seven-page resolution promulgated on June 2, 2026, the anti-graft court terminated the proceedings after the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) said it would no longer present additional evidence on the unresolved properties.

The case stemmed from Civil Case No. 0141, filed in 1991 by the Republic of the Philippines one of the government’s major efforts to recover alleged ill-gotten wealth from the Marcos family.

The PCGG informed the court that it would no longer submit further evidence, saying most of the assets had already been recovered through other civil actions.

Earlier rulings in the same case had already ordered the forfeiture of about $658 million in Swiss deposits, as well as funds, properties, shares of stock, jewelry, and artwork proceeds. The remaining portion involved alleged bank deposits and investments in several jurisdictions, including Luxembourg, Hong Kong, the Cayman Islands, and the United States.

The forfeiture case also alleged that members of the Marcos family held various bank deposits, corporate shares, and properties abroad as part of the disputed wealth. The case is part of the broader government effort to recover an estimated $5 billion in alleged ill-gotten wealth.

The court ruled that, in the absence of further evidence, the proceedings covering the remaining properties would be terminated.

“In view of petitioner’s manifestation and the absence of evidence concerning the remaining properties, the proceedings in this case, insofar as they relate to properties not covered by the four partial summary judgments are now terminated,” the Sandiganbayan said.

“Accordingly, Civil Case No. 0141 is dismissed, insofar as it concerns the remaining properties not subject of the previous partial summary judgments,” it added.

The resolution was signed by Associate Justice Bayani Jacinto, with Associate Justices Maryann Corpus-Mañalac and Juliet Manalo-San Gaspar concurring.
