The Sandiganbayan Second Division on Monday deferred the arraignment of Uswag Ilonggo Party-list Rep. James “Jojo” Ang Jr. in graft charges involving an alleged conflict of interest in infrastructure projects.

The court reset the arraignment to Sept. 8, 2026, pending resolution of motions filed by the defense, according to a report of RH Val Gonzales.

Ang is facing graft charges over an alleged conflict of interest involving more than ₱200 million worth of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) infrastructure contracts.

The court deferred the reading of the charges as it awaits the resolution of Ang’s pending motions, including a motion to quash the information and a motion to consolidate the cases.

Ang’s camp earlier sought the consolidation of the 14 graft cases, arguing that the allegations are similar and stem from the same set of circumstances.

The cases involve alleged violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act after Ang allegedly remained connected with a construction firm while serving as a member of Congress. The firm reportedly secured more than ₱240 million worth of DPWH infrastructure contracts.

Ang earlier posted ₱90,000 bail before the Sandiganbayan Third Division on July 28, 2026, after the court issued an arrest warrant against him.

The lawmaker has denied any wrongdoing and maintained that he complied with legal requirements regarding his business interests.
