South Korean star Sandara Park has expressed gratitude after being appointed as promotional ambassador for the Overseas Koreans Affairs Office, calling the role both meaningful and personal.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Park said she was “sincerely grateful” for the opportunity, noting that her long stay in the Philippines gave her a deeper understanding of the lives and emotions of Koreans living abroad.

“I have been appointed as the promotional ambassador for the Overseas Koreans Affairs Office. I am sincerely grateful to take on this meaningful role,” she wrote.

The former 2NE1 member, who spent part of her youth in the Philippines before rising to fame in South Korea, said her experience abroad shaped her perspective and strengthened her connection to overseas Korean communities.

“Having lived in the Philippines for a long time, I have felt the hearts of overseas Koreans up close, which makes this even more significant to me,” she added.

Park also pledged to take on her new responsibility with dedication, emphasizing her role as a bridge between overseas Koreans and their home country.

“Going forward, I will diligently fulfill my role as a bridge connecting overseas Koreans and the Republic of Korea,” she said.

The Overseas Koreans Affairs Office works to support and engage Korean nationals living outside South Korea, promoting cultural ties and addressing the needs of diaspora communities.

Park’s appointment was welcomed by fans, particularly in the Philippines, where she remains a beloved figure due to her early career and fluency in Filipino.
