The San Juan City Police Station has reminded the public to exercise responsibility when creating, posting, or sharing AI-generated images depicting individuals wearing Philippine National Police (PNP) uniforms.
In a public awareness advisory, the police station acknowledged that artificial intelligence can be used for creativity, entertainment, personal expression, and other positive purposes, including allowing individuals to visualize themselves wearing a police uniform as part of a personal dream or creative project.
However, authorities stressed that such content must not be used in a way that could mislead the public or create a false impression of a person’s identity or affiliation with the police force.
The San Juan City Police Station warned that the unauthorized reproduction or alteration of PNP uniforms, insignia, badges, identification cards, ranks, logos, and other official markings in AI-generated content could make it appear that an individual is an actual police officer.
It could also give the impression that the PNP officially endorses, participates in, or is associated with a particular activity shown in the AI-generated material.
“The PNP uniform is more than just clothing. It symbolizes public service, authority, discipline, integrity, responsibility, and the trust entrusted by the Filipino people to every police officer,” the San Juan City Police Station said.
Police authorities emphasized that while there is nothing inherently wrong with using AI for creative and positive purposes, users must ensure that generated images are presented appropriately and do not intentionally misrepresent reality.
The station urged users to make it clear, whenever necessary, that an image is fictional, creative, or AI-generated, particularly when the content could otherwise be mistaken for an authentic photograph involving a police officer or official PNP activity.
The reminder comes as AI-generated images become increasingly accessible and realistic, raising concerns over the potential misuse of official uniforms and government symbols in digitally created content.
The San Juan City Police Station stressed that responsible use of AI is essential as the technology continues to evolve.
“As technology continues to evolve, so must our responsibility in using it,” the police station said.
Authorities encouraged the public to use AI in ways that promote creativity and positive self-expression while respecting the significance of official PNP symbols and preventing content that could mislead or deceive the public.
