Super Typhoon Rosal slightly intensified while moving west northwestward over the Philippine Sea east of Central Luzon.

As of 5:00 PM on Tuesday, October 20, the super typhoon was located at 1,270 km east of Central Luzon. It has maximum sustained winds of 195 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 240 km/h and central pressure of 935 hPa.

It is currently moving west northwestward at 25 km/h.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 is also in effect in the following areas:

• Batanes
• Babuyan Islands, the northern portion of Ilocos Norte (Pagudpud)
• the northern and eastern portions of mainland Cagayan (Santa Ana, Gonzaga, Lal-Lo, Santa Teresita, Camalaniugan, Aparri, Buguey, Gattaran, Baggao, Peñablanca, Santa Praxedes, Claveria, Sanchez-Mira, Pamplona, Ballesteros, Abulug, Allacapan)
• the northeastern portion of Isabela (Maconacon, Divilacan, Palanan)
• the northeastern portion of Catanduanes (Pandan, Bagamanoc, Panganiban, Viga, Gigmoto)

According to PAGASA, Rosal will move generally west northwestward until Wednesday, October 21, before moving generally northwestward until Friday (October 23) morning.

The super typhoon will be closest to Extreme Northern Luzon between Thursday (October 22) and Friday. The tropical cyclone will begin to turn north northwestward to northward by Friday afternoon until it exits the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Friday evening or early Saturday (October 24) morning.

The state weather bureau said Rosal is forecast to maintain its strength as a super typhoon and further intensification remains possible while moving over the Philippine Sea.

However, it will gradually weaken into a typhoon on Thursday evening or early Friday morning.
