Former House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Representative Ferdinand Martin Romualdez has expressed his readiness to release his Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN), should the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) formally request it.
According to RH Jecelle Ricafort, Romualdez said in an ambush interview that he is open to cooperating with the ICI’s ongoing probe into alleged irregularities in the infrastructure budgeting process.
ICI Executive Director Atty. Brian Hosaka, for his part, said he would inform the commission members of Romualdez’s willingness to make his SALN public as part of transparency efforts.
Romualdez, however, declined to comment when asked about any recent communication with former Ako Bicol Partylist Representative Zaldy Co, who resigned earlier amid questions surrounding certain infrastructure projects.
Despite repeated inquiries from the media, the former Speaker remained tight-lipped on the matter.
When asked whether Co should return to the Philippines, Romualdez said that all resource persons summoned by the commission are expected to appear before it.
The ICI continues to investigate alleged irregularities in the allocation and implementation of public infrastructure funds.
