by Mary Antalan14 September 2026

Former House Speaker Martin Romualdez said he respects the Sandiganbayan’s decision ordering his transfer to the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory.

In a statement Monday, September 14, Romualdez thanked his physicians at Cardinal Santos Medical Center and doctors at the Philippine General Hospital for their care and professional judgment.

“I will continue to follow the medical advice of my doctors,” Romualdez said.

Romualdez, who is facing a plunder charge, reiterated that he is prepared to face the allegations against him before the proper court.

“I have always said that I will face the charges against me and answer them before the proper court. That has not changed,” he said.

“I maintain my innocence. Haharapin ko ang kaso. Sasagutin ko ang mga paratang,” Romualdez added.

He described the situation as a difficult moment for him and his family but said he would face the days ahead with dignity, faith in God, and confidence in the truth.
