Former House Speaker Martin Romualdez attended the pre-trial proceedings for his plunder case via videoconference on Friday, Sept. 25.

This came after the Sandiganbayan granted his manifestation with motion allowing him to participate in the hearing remotely.

The proceedings were conducted virtually, with Romualdez joining the hearing from the New Quezon City Jail in Payatas, Quezon City, where he is currently detained.

During the hearing, the prosecution and defense are expected to mark their evidence and present the evidence and witnesses they intend to offer during the trial.

Romualdez is facing a ₱7.4-billion plunder case in connection with alleged irregularities in government flood control projects.
