More than 20 individuals, including key government officials and former military personnel, have been invited to appear before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing scheduled on Monday, June 8, as part of an ongoing investigation led by Sen. Erwin Tulfo, chair of the newly formed majority bloc panel.
Among those formally invited are Leyte 1st District Rep. and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez and Ombudsman Jesus Crispin "Boying" Remulla.
Also included in the list are National Bureau of Investigation Director Atty. Melvin Matibag, officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Justice (DOJ), and Department of Budget and Management (DBM), as well as 18 former soldiers allegedly involved in the delivery of large sums of cash linked to former congressman Zaldy Co.
Former DPWH Bulacan Assistant District Engineer Brice Hernandez is also expected to be present, pending permission from the Sandiganbayan.
The invitation for Romualdez was coursed through House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III as a matter of courtesy, while notices for the former soldiers were sent through Atty. Levito Baligod, who represents them in the proceedings.
In a notice, Tulfo emphasized that the invited individuals are among the resource persons expected to shed light on the issues under investigation as the committee continues its inquiry into alleged irregularities involving multiple agencies and personalities.
