The camp of former House Speaker Martin Romualdez said Thursday that conflicting witness accounts show there is no evidence linking him to the alleged flood-control corruption scandal.
“Sa dami ng magkakasalungat na kwento, napaka-klaro na walang ebidensya laban kay Cong. Romualdez,” spokesperson Atty. Ade Fajardo said.
Fajardo also announced that Romualdez will file a supplemental counter-affidavit with the Office of the Ombudsman, attaching sworn statements from 25 former drivers and security aides of Rep. Zaldy Co.
The lawyer said the witnesses denied having personal knowledge of any money deliveries to politicians or government officials, including Romualdez.
He also cited the reported reversal of Orly Guteza, who allegedly said accusations linking Romualdez to the case were forced on him.
Romualdez has denied involvement in the alleged multibillion-peso flood-control kickback scheme.
Fajardo said the camp remains confident that a fair investigation will establish that the accusations against Romualdez have no basis.
