Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo on Saturday pushed back against a social media claim that she was allegedly keeping her trips to Manila secret, calling the post false and part of misinformation.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, July 18, Robredo said she rarely responds to online trolls but made an exception to correct what she described as inaccurate information circulating online.

She clarified that her trips to Manila are not hidden from the public, noting that she regularly discloses her schedule and activities. “Hindi sinisikreto ang pagpunta ng Manila because I always make a report,” she said.

Robredo added that she travels to Manila usually once a month, often on Thursdays or Fridays, primarily to coordinate with national government agencies and private partners to secure support for projects in Naga City.

She said these efforts have resulted in more than ₱1 billion in assistance for the city even before completing her first year in office.

The mayor also emphasized that she ensures continuity of local governance during her absence by designating Vice Mayor Gabby Bordado Jr. as acting mayor whenever she is out of the city.

Robredo further denied allegations of misuse of public funds, saying she does not charge her travel expenses to the city government and does not use a government-owned vehicle for her trips.

“So, no to fake news,” she said.

The statement came after a now-deleted social media post accused the mayor of frequently traveling to Manila without public knowledge.
