Frasco: No personal meeting between Robredo-Duterte for transition
by John Dexter Tilo30 May 2022

No personal meeting will be held between outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo and Vice President-elect Sara Duterte, according to the latter's camp, as the transition period is set between both officials.

In a statement from Duterte's spokesperson Mayor Christina Frasco, she clarified that the meeting will only be held between their teams and not personally by the two officials.

"The initial meeting sought will be between the teams, and not personally between the outgoing Vice President and the incoming Vice President," said Frasco.

The Duterte camp also uploaded a copy of the initial letter to Robredo's office dated May 27, where they requested a virtual meeting for the smooth transition between the two officials

"To ensure a smooth transition between the outgoing and incoming officials and personnel of the Office of the Vice President, may we request for an initial meeting between the members of our respective teams at the soonest possible time to discuss protocols, policies, precedents, and other matters concerning the Office of the Vice President," the letter read.

"We further request that this initial meeting be held via Zoom," it added.

According to Frasco, Duterte intends to have a smooth transition between both camps.

"It is the intention of Vice President-elect Sara Duterte to undertake as smooth and orderly a transition as possible," the spokesperson said.

The camp of Robredo has yet to issue a statement regarding the requested meeting, with the outgoing vice president just returning to the Philippines on Sunday after attending her daughter Jillian's graduation in New York, USA.
