The Philippine government has clarified that the popular online gaming platform Roblox will not be banned in the country, amid growing public concern over online abuse and the Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC).

Authorities are working to strengthen digital safety measures to protect Filipino children. On April 7, a joint meeting was held between the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), Roblox, law enforcement agencies, and the private sector to address these concerns.

The DICT and CICC emphasized that Roblox will remain accessible in the Philippines, while the platform has committed to implementing stricter safeguards, including enhanced monitoring, reporting mechanisms, and age-appropriate content controls.

Roblox also announced an information campaign starting April 12, aimed at educating parents and users about available safety features.

Parents are also encouraged to use Roblox’s parental controls to protect their children, including monitoring screen time, setting spending limits, blocking inappropriate experiences, and selecting age-appropriate content.

Authorities stressed that digital safety is a shared responsibility between platforms, government, and families.

“Together, we can ensure that every Filipino child enjoys a safe and secure online experience,” the statement read.

This move comes as part of the government’s broader strategy to combat OSAEC and online abuse, ensuring that the country’s youth can safely navigate digital spaces without unnecessary restrictions.
