Senator Robin Padilla said on Wednesday that he supports the Vice President Sara Duterte and Senator Imee Marcos tandem for the presidential elections slated for 2028.

This comes after Duterte formally announced her bid for the presidency in the upcoming elections, and Senator Marcos issued a statement backing it.

Padilla expressed confidence in Duterte and Marcos’ shared leadership, which he believes will be strengthened by courage and resolve.

“Yun ang VP ko si Imee!” Padilla said. “Naniniwala tayo na malakas ang magiging mensahe ng tambalang Inday Sara Duterte at Manang Imee Marcos, isang panawagan para sa pagkakaisa at tunay na reconciliation ng bansa. Panahon na para maramdaman ng mga Pilipino ang lakas ng lideratong may tapang at paninindigan.”

“Panahon na para maramdaman ng mga Pinoy ang girl power,” he responded when asked if Filipinos would be amenable to two women heading the state.

Earlier, Marcos said in a statement that she believes Duterte has the solution to the nation’s problems.

“Taglay niya ang tapang at malasakit ng kanyang ama habang bitbit ang karanasan sa pagtulong sa maralita, mga nangangailangan at pinagmalupitan. Siya ang may solusyon,” Marcos wrote.
