Senator Robinhood “Robin” Padilla stood by his pride in his three years at the “University of Prison,” which he described as the true “University of Life” in a Friday social media post.
Dito pinag-aaralan kung paano magbayad sa kasalanan at matakot sa Dios,” he said in a Facebook post, thanking a netizen for what appears to be an image generated with artificial intelligence (AI).
In the image, Padilla is wearing a toga and cap and holding a diploma in front of an institution bearing the name “University of Prison,” specifically, the “Dept. of Correctional Education.”
He further described prison as a place to learn the “true state of the nation and its people,” where people of all walks of life—killers, snatchers, drug dealers, gangsters, corrupt politicians, individuals from prestigious and lowly schools alike—learn what it is to live the life of a criminal.
With honors o with death,” Padilla concluded.
This post comes after severe backlash when the senator joked during the Senate impeachment trial earlier this week that he had studied Criminology at UP, or the “University of Prison,” alluding to his past incarceration.
Padilla said he had asked Google for help in reaching a decision regarding whether to vote in favor of or to oppose having Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero as presiding officer of the impeachment court.
