Several roads in Pasay City will be closed starting Saturday, October 24 as the country prepares to host the 49th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit.
According to the Pasay Traffic and Parking Management Office, partial road closures will be implemented from October 24 to November 9, followed by full closures from November 9 to 20.
The temporary traffic measures will affect roads around the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), where security preparations are underway for the regional gathering.
Affected roads include portions of Vicente Sotto Street, Atang Dela Rama Street, Magdalena Jalandoni Street, Pedro Bukaneg Street, Diokno Boulevard and Buendia Avenue.
Bus lanes turned into ASEAN lanes
Meanwhile, the designated bus lanes will also temporarily be converted into ASEAN lanes to prioritize official vehicles and convoys carrying summit officials and delegates.
Motorists and commuters are advised to allow extra travel time, take alternative routes and follow instructions from traffic enforcers and authorized personnel.
Authorities also advised the public to avoid portions of Macapagal Boulevard and Roxas Boulevard, as well as areas near the World Trade Center, due to expected traffic congestion.
