The Rizal Police Provincial Office (RPPO) on Monday extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed and injured in a road crash along Manila East Road in Angono, Rizal on Sunday.

In a press statement, the RPPO said that the initial investigation conducted by the Angono Municipal Police Station indicates that a car driver lost control of her vehicle, resulting in a collision with a motorcycle and pedestrians.

According to reports, four victims have died, including the motorcycle driver and his passenger, while a 13-year-old sustained injuries from the accident.

The vehicle driver, said the RPPO, was immediately taken into police custody.

As further investigation into the incident continues, authorities are also set to file appropriate charges, such as Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Multiple Homicide, Serious Physical Injury, and Damage to Property, against the reportedly speeding car driver.

The RPPO assured that the incident is being carefully investigated in order to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the collision and hold all responsible accountable under the law.

In addition, police are working with the hospitals who have treated or are treating the victims, as well as the victim’s families in order to provide them with necessary assistance.

“Lubos naming ikinalulungkot ang trahedyang naganap na nagdulot ng pagkawala ng buhay at pinsala sa ating mga kababayan. Tinitiyak ng Rizal PPO na patuloy ang isinasagawang masusing imbestigasyon upang mapanagot ang may sala at makamit ng mga biktima at kanilang pamilya ang hustisyang nararapat sa kanila,” RPPO Director PCol. Atty. Eleazar R. Barber Jr. said.

Based on reports, the speeding car was driven by a 60-year-old woman. The accident led to the deaths of a homeless 69-year-old woman, a 15-year-old boy, and the motorcycle driver along with his girlfriend. The remaining 13-year-old patient is out of danger.
