Rising Filipino tennis ace Tennielle Madis is set to start an exciting new chapter in her career after receiving a scholarship to play for the University of Hawaii’s women’s tennis team.
The 18-year-old from North Cotabato shared her joy as she prepares to join the university in September, marking a major step in her athletic and academic journey.
“It is truly an honor and a privilege to be a part of Hawaii Women’s Tennis,” Madis said. “I’m deeply grateful as I begin this exciting new chapter in my life.”
Madis, who currently ranks as the second-highest Filipina tennis player behind Alex Eala, recently competed in both singles and doubles events at the inaugural Philippine Women’s Open.
She entered the tournament as a wild card and faced Thailand’s Mananchaya Sawangkaew in the singles Round of 32, falling 6-4, 6-0.
Despite the singles setback, Madis showcased determination in the doubles event alongside fellow wild card entrant Stefi Marithe Aludo, though they were bested by Japan’s Mana Ayukawa and Kanako Morisaki, 6-2, 6-2.
The University of Hawaii welcomes Madis to its women’s tennis program this coming September, a promising opportunity for the young athlete to develop her skills and make her mark in international collegiate tennis.
