Ridge of High Pressure Area extends over Northern Luzon on Friday, April 17 — PAGASA

The Ridge of a High Pressure Area (HPA) continues to extend over Northern Luzon on Friday, April 17, according to PAGASA.
In its 4 a.m. daily forecast, PAGASA said Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, Typhoon Sinlaku is still being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). As of 3 a.m., the typhoon was located 2,485 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 140 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 170 km/h. It is moving north-northeastward at 15 km/h.
Should the typhoon enter the PAR, it will be given the local name “Caloy.”
