The owner of Casas Con Vistas Resort on Tuesday denied allegations linking the property to Davao City First District Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, saying that the owners are private citizens with no affiliation with the congressman or any other public official.
“We categorically deny the allegations suggesting any connection between the Resort's ownership and Congressman Paolo Duterte or any person holding public office,” the management said in a statement.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the owners of CASAS CON VISTAS RESORT are private citizens who do not hold public office and are not affiliated, directly or indirectly, with Congressman Paolo Duterte or any public official,” it added.
The resort urged the public to “exercise due diligence by verifying information through credible sources before sharing or amplifying unverified allegations that could damage its reputation and that of its owners.“
It also warned that it would consider legal action against individuals who knowingly publish or disseminate false and defamatory statements about the resort or its owners.
“We will not hesitate to pursue appropriate legal remedies against any person who knowingly publishes or disseminates false and defamatory statements concerning the Resort or its owners, or who otherwise violates applicable laws,” it said.
“We reserve all rights and remedies available to us under the law,” the statement said.
The resort concluded by reaffirming its commitment to providing quality service to guests and protecting its reputation.
The denial came a day after National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Atty. Melvin Matibag presented information at a press conference on Monday, October 12, regarding a property identified as a resort and allegedly owned by Vice President Sara Duterte.
Matibag presented a photograph of the property during the press briefing. Vice President Duterte, however, denied the NBI chief’s claim.
