Surigao del Sur 1st District Representative Romeo Momo Sr. rejected allegations linking him and his family to supposed irregularities in government projects, following a plunder and graft complaint filed against him before the Office of the Ombudsman.
RH Milky Rigonan reports that the complaint stemmed from claims that more than ₱1.4 billion worth of government projects were awarded to Surigao La Suerte Corporation, where some of his family members were allegedly connected.
Momo, however, insisted there was no conflict of interest, stressing that he had long divested from the company and no longer holds any involvement in its operations. He also maintained that the firm does not conduct business within his congressional district.
He described the accusations as baseless, saying documents and individuals familiar with the matter could disprove the claims.
According to the lawmaker, the complaint is nothing more than political maneuvering by his rivals aimed at damaging his credibility.
Momo assured the public that he will address the allegations “in the proper forum and at the proper time,” including those directed at his family.
