Suspended Cavite 4th District Rep. Kiko Barzaga appeared unfazed after the House plenary upheld a new 60-day suspension against him, saying he plans to spend the period playing with his pet cats and dogs while barred from attending sessions.
Known as a pet lover and nicknamed “CongMeow,” Barzaga said he would simply stay home and bond with his animals during the suspension. He made the remark when asked what he intends to do while temporarily prohibited from entering the House of Representatives.
Barzaga also maintained that he is not affected by the penalty, saying his constituents in Cavite understand his outspoken criticism of issues in the House and in government.
He added that his district would be more ashamed if his name were linked to corruption, such as alleged anomalies in flood control projects, rather than his candid social media posts and commentaries.
When asked if he would be more careful with his posts on social media following the suspension, Barzaga replied that he could not promise to do so.
