Cavite’s 4th District Representative Francisco "Kiko" Barzaga is back in the House of Representatives after completing his 60-day suspension over an ethics complaint filed by the National Unity Party (NUP). He announced on Facebook that he will resume attending plenary sessions starting next week.
Barzaga outlined key proposals he plans to pursue, including abolishing the 20-percent VAT, a divorce bill to end abusive relationships, a travel disclosure bill requiring officials to explain their trips, and salary increases for government employees. His post was noted for its unique and thematic style.
The suspension stemmed from the NUP ethics complaint, but Barzaga emphasized his readiness to return to legislative duties and actively promote his proposed bills in the plenary.
Meanwhile, the House Ethics Committee will deliberate tomorrow on a new complaint against Barzaga, alleging he received bribes from billionaire Enrique Razon. The outcome could impact his participation in future House proceedings.
