Edvic Yap has resigned from his position as ACT-CIS Partylist representative, the House of Representatives announced on Wednesday, February 4.
During the House session, Deputy Majority Leader and Leyte Rep. Anna Victoria Veloso-Tuazon announced that Yap had submitted his letter.
“Mr. Speaker, for the information of the body, we are in receipt of a letter from Representative Edvic Yap of ACTS-CIS Partylist, informing the House of Representatives of his resignation as a member of the House,” Veloso-Tuazon said.
Following this, the Office of the Secretary General is required to remove Yap from the roll of members of the House.
“Mr. Speaker, in view of the resignation of Mr. Edvic Yap, may we request that the Secretary General be directed to drop Rep. Yap from the roll of members of the House of Representatives,” she stated.
Yap and his brother, and Benguet Rep. Eric Yap, are among the lawmakers linked to the flood control scandal. The former was previously named as one of the lawmakers linked to the unfinished La Union flood control project worth P275.9 million. Its contractor, Silverwolves Construction Corp., is facing charges of malversation and graft.
Meanwhile, his brother, Eric, is also tied to the said construction firm, allegedly having transactions worth over P16 billion from 2022 to 2024.
The House of Representatives has yet to announce who will replace Yap as representative of the ACT-CIS Partylist.
